The Run for Your Oats Fun Run kicks off Festival day before the parade, vendors, and live music take over downtown — and honestly, it might be the easiest way there is to get in on the tradition. Never run a race in your life? Perfect. This one’s built just as much for first-timers, walkers, and families as it is for runners chasing a personal best.

There’s no training plan required and no pressure to keep pace with anyone. Show up, pick a speed that works for you, and enjoy 3.3 miles of hometown road with the whole town cheering you on.

New to Race Day?

You’re in Good Company

Every year, a good chunk of the field has never run a race before — and plenty of folks don’t run it at all. Families walk it together with strollers and leashed dogs in tow, kids race their parents to the next block, and first-timers show up not knowing what to expect and leave already planning to come back. If jogging isn’t your thing, walking the whole route is completely normal — and just as welcome.

If you’d rather skip the course altogether, that’s an option too: plenty of Bertram folks line Vaughan Street just to cheer runners on before heading over for the rest of Festival day.

Nothing beats that last stretch down Vaughan Street with the town cheering you home.

There’s nothing like that final stretch with the crowd on both sides of the street — first-timers and lifelong locals alike say the finish line energy is what brings them back the following year.
