Everyone
Businesses, Groups & Families Welcome

Every year, the Oatmeal Festival Grande Parade turns Vaughan Street into a rolling celebration of everything this community loves — the quirky, the proud, and the downright unforgettable. This year’s parade steps off Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:30 AM, starting at Panther Park, crossing FM 243, and rolling straight through the heart of downtown Bertram before ending at East Street — and we want you in it.

Not Sure What Counts as an Entry?

Just About Anything.

That’s the beauty of the Oatmeal Festival Grande Parade — there’s no single mold. Over the years Vaughan Street has seen everything from a tractor-drawn float to a dinosaur built entirely out of car parts. Take a look at who’s marched before:

Local businesses, school groups, car clubs, church floats, dance teams, veterans’ organizations, even a family walking the route with a decorated wagon — if you’re proud of it, Vaughan Street wants to see it.

Watch for Oatie — and Watch Your Grits

Somewhere in that crowd, our giant oatmeal mascot Oatie will be soaking up the applause, and the mischievous Grits Guzzler will be up to his usual tricks — right up until the Police Chief catches him again, just like every year since 1978. If you’ve never seen the “arrest” happen live, this is the year.
