The festival kicks off with the Trail Ride, a scenic horseback ride through the Texas Hill County roads that connect Oatmeal and Bertram. As participants make their way from the old historic Oatmeal School House to Panther Park in Bertram, they can enjoy the peacefulness of nature while creating lifelong memories with friends and family.
For those seeking a more active experience, the Run For Your Oats 3.3-mile Run offers a chance to get moving and embrace the joy of physical fitness. Runners of all ages and abilities can participate in this event, which promotes a healthy lifestyle and community unity. And this year we are excited to have some of the dogs from The Hill Country Humane Society and their volunteer handlers join in the run to help them stretch their legs.
One of the highlights of the festival is the over 95 Artisan, Food and Shopping Vendor Booths. This vibrant marketplace showcases the talents and craftsmanship of local artisans, offering an array of unique products and handmade goods. Visitors can browse through the booths, discovering one-of-a-kind treasures and supporting local businesses.
The Oatmeal Bake Off is a competitive event that brings out the culinary talents of both young and old. We are super excited to have the 1st Cavalry from Fort Cavoras is joining us this year! They’ll be providing a Color Guard, 12 mounted troopers, a wagon pulled by a mule, and the driver! How cool is that?

The BBQ Lunch Plate Scholarship Fundraiser offers mouthwatering barbecue dishes, satisfying even the most discerning palates. Every bite supports a great cause, as the funds raised go towards supporting local students in pursuing their higher education dreams.
